How To Use This Guide
One of the important skills you will learn in this class is how to conduct college-level research so that you can use the information you find in academic writing assignments. By using this guide, you will quickly learn to find just the sources you need (and get an "A" on that paper!).
This guide is designed to provide you with several avenues for completing your assignments. We have placed the pages in, what we think is, a logical order, but if you want to jump into a topic without working through the earlier pages, you should be able to successfully do that.
As you improve your research skills, keep in mind that what you learn can be used for other classes and assignments. Whether you complete your degree at NWC. transfer to another college or university, or apply your ENGL 1010 experience outside the classroom, library research skills are transferrable. All libraries basically use the same systems. And, there are always librarians available to help you. So, don't hesitate to ask for help - online or in person.
Remember, whenever you cannot understand something or a resource is not working, please get in touch with us. We are here to help you.
